Oh no, I get that. Earth has a lot of big corporations and stuff, too. But...yeah. I could understand recruiting that many people but not doing it and nobody remembering how this happened. That's a lot of convenient memory loss. Even more concerning is the argument that it shouldn't be a concern.
It's pretty suspicious that they can't contact the people in charge. I'm not an astronaut, but I'm pretty sure manned voyages always maintain contact with people off-ship.
