[The flowers around here are lowkey concerning given all their lore, but he trusts that the other nerds are already investigating them, so for now he won't worry about it too much. He presses a few keys on the piano, but there's no real tune to it.]
I've always liked classical music, [because Jimothelle--I mean Rosa--played violin when they were younger and he's hopeless] but I never learned to play anything myself.
[how romantic. she will test and few keys and then awkwardly play a little melody.]
I took music classes in school, but never focused too much on it. Then again, what I think of as classical music and what you do is probably very different.
[He is a babyfaced super spy, but more than that, he is a giant goober.]
That's probably true. [He picks a flower off the top of the piano, twirling it between his fingers.] Can you tell me more about your world? We never really talked about it much.
It's a long time in the future from the time most of you are from. I am of Terran descent, I guess, but I've only ever been to Terra once or twice for business. My parents moved a lot, so I lived on a few different planets and space stations growing up.
The galaxy I'm from is big, but most of it used to be part of an empire controlled by the Bajar family. The empire fell about a hundred cycles ago, so there's no overarching structure of authority. You have a few big factions that control a lot of the galaxy, and that's about as close as it comes, but they're all really looking out for their own interests. I used to work for United Free Trade Planets, which is a corporation formed by some of the Bajar descendants to convert some of the former imperial holdings into private equity. They're not nice people, but UFTP and Griivar Worlds are kind of the only game in town.
[Ah, yes, the empire... he remembers hearing about that, and the way its fall turned her society into what it is. He's grown accustomed to imagining worlds and lifestyles vastly different from his own by now, but he still doesn't love the picture it paints.
Still... it is what it is, and more than that, he doesn't want to make her sit here and detail the intricacies of galactic sociopolitical discord. So--]
Was it tough to move around like that? [Across planets and space stations...] When I was little, I always really admired the transfer students who came from far places, and that was just between cities and countries.
I understand. Well--kind of. I moved to the capital for 8 years, but there weren't many people there that I was sad to leave behind when I went back to Stellis.
[Though mostly it's because he's obsessed with his lifelong crush to whom no one can compare... and because his doctor came with him and everyone else fucking DIED but details, details]

...It's an antique. I haven't seen one quite like this before.

[it definitely meant she had a tougher time making lasting friendships, but she was always pretty outgoing.]
I went away to school when I was a teenager, and some of the same people were around all the way through business school.

Yeah? Are you pretty close with them?

Do you miss them?

[oops. she coughs up some petals, and she frowns.]
Well. Not most of them. I guess I do miss being friends with Lucienne.
