it is very true that trauma, mayhem, and hardship makes everyone closer. he already would've been friends with everyone instantly here, but now—he feels close to them. it's a little different, for someone as sociable as him.

Spotting those moments of happiness isn't difficult, especially when they shine so brightly in contrast to everything else they're dealing with. And he knows, of course, what it's like to find that in a person. Accepting it, though, or even pursuing it... well. That's a very different struggle, at least for Luke, who has never put himself and his desires first. Sidon says it like it's easy, and Luke can only attribute this to another difference between them--something to admire about Sidon, but that he can't apply to himself.]
It's a good thing. Anything that helps us hold on down here is.
