I don't think they're the ones who brought us here. [He settles on.] I believe that much is true. But I don't trust this situation, and I don't believe their explanations about it. And I think that, when things come to a head, they won't be on our side.
Ideally, I'll be able to get in touch with my team at home, and they'll help get us out of here with minimal trouble. But until I can do that, I'd be cautious of them.

It's part of my job to hold a little bit of doubt all the time. But even if it wasn't, we're strangers to them too, you know? If they really signed up for all this and they remember it, then they're going to trust the people they know, the ones they listen to all the time. Most people want to believe in goodness. [With some exceptions, obviously, but. That's a philosophical discussion, not a practical one, really.]
A detective has to have a good network, after all! [Among other things.] I know someone who has the equipment to pick up any message I'd send him, as long as I can tap into it. As for the rest of them... [He shrugs!] We just work together. Aside from [Jimothelle] my best friend, I wouldn't say I'm all that close to them.
All very reasonable doubts! [ he sounds very impressed, even as the optimistic type. ] I've never met a detective before—but you sound like you must be very diligent with your work!

There's good reason to be careful. One can hope they choose to help us, when push comes to shove, but I can see why you might not believe that.
