Well, I can't fault them for that or promise I would never participate in one, but I'm kind of seeing why mid-conversation Callisto suddenly warned me not to think about making an enemy out of the company...
We were talking about the scouting ships that Eudora has, and then they suddenly told me not to hijack one and try to escape the contract that way or else it'd provoke the company. I didn't even bring up the idea!

Maybe. They made it sound like our... particular circumstances are unusual, but it wouldn't be surprising for any large group to have had defectors before.
Well, I think most groups aren't a fan of betrayal or theft, though it's true that the lack of leniency doesn't bode well. A good organization should know when to be merciful.
Mm. ... I'm looking forward to arriving at our destination—well, maybe "looking forward" isn't the right way to put it, but I feel like seeing the job firsthand will be the first step into getting a better idea of all this.
