The tricky part, on the other hand, is that we still don't know the full extent of what the company is capable of doing...

Mm. Any kind of intervention would have to be subtle. The senior crew said they'd take on extra workloads if anyone wasn't fit to do the jobs, but...
[That goes back to trusting the senior crew]

You seem to be right at home thinking about this kind of thing.

I read a lot of books.
[Imagine if he just left it at that. But no, he winks.]
And I work as a detective. I can't say space kidnappings are in my usual caseload, though.

They do seem like a niche area. What kind of cases do you usually see?

Well, I work as a private investigator, so it's usually individuals coming into the agency. People who've been scammed, missing persons, things like that. I've done large-scale work before too, though.

Makes sense. Gotta be rough, being in the phase where you have to prove yourself to everyone.

It's not so bad. I'm pretty confident in my abilities.
[One could even say... arrogant...
He senses that blip, though, and tilts his head slightly, expression open and curious.]
What about you?

Oh, you know. I'm a stranger with no verifiable backstory, so sometimes people don't know how much they can rely on me to get the job done...

That does seem like it would be pretty tough... I think our definitions of "traveler" are pretty different.
[Mostly judging by the fact that people in 2030 don't typically say they're travelers as like, a job or identity]

Someone who takes a lot of vacations to different countries, mostly...
